JEAN ANNE 2007
Car carrier ship in the drydock at the BAE shipyard in San Francisco, California.

OVERVIEW 2005
Sad and forgotten, the once stately Byron Hot Springs Hotel vainly tries to hide from vandals behind its screen of swaying palms.

GRAND STAIRCASE 2005
The lavish first floor vestibule of a long derelict shipyard office building slumbers. These offices oversaw the construction of 18 Destroyers during the Second World War. Salvagers recently stole the brass railings from these stairs and vandals destroyed the rest.

LEBOWSKI DREAM SEQUENCE 2007
Abandoned bowling alley.

THE PHOENIX TROTTING PARK  1999
This Italian designed, Googie masterpiece was built in 1965 by east coast gambling interests. It closed after only 2 seasons and has been empty ever since. It was engulfed in a tremendous fireball for the B-film “No Code of Conduct” in 1998, blowing out most of the windows and killing hundreds of roosting birds.

WINGBACKS 2005
The 16th Street train station, Oakland, California.

RED VALVES 2005
At the Hercules Powder Works, Hercules, CA, a 19th century dynamite factory. Closed in 1977, torn down and subdivided in 2006.

DUTY FREE 2008
The 1980s vintage International terminal at San Francisco International Airport. Abandoned in 2003. Slated for demolition in late 2008.

KITTY 2004
Dead and desiccated Siamese cat inside the Madam's home attached to Bobbie's Buckeye Bar, Tonopah, Nevada, an abandoned bar and whorehouse. Did the Madam go into hospital and leave her kitty to starve? Abandoned for about a year before I found it (judging by the expired liquor license), the place was unlocked and wide open that day, but on my last trip to Tonopah it was locked up tight.

LANE PORN 2007
Abandoned bowling alley.

THE VISTA   2008
The 1980s vintage International terminal at San Francisco International Airport. Abandoned in 2003. Slated for demolition in late 2008.

NOT RADIOACTIVE   2007
Building 351, the 1945 Naval Radiological Defense Laboratory offices at the abandoned Hunters Point Shipyards.

HEAD BUSTER 2007
The basement at Bethlehem Steel, San Francisco. This was undoubtedly hung by a "copper miner" (salvage thieves who break into abandoned buildings to strip out pipes and wiring and end up destroying the building from the inside out) who was tired of whacking his head on that broken pipe.

HOT SPOT   2007
On the grounds of the Byron Hot Springs Hotel. As we were leaving about midnight I saw a tiny glow in the distance. This brush fire had happened that day and was still smoldering when we left at midnight. How much longer before this "fireproof" hotel burns to the ground? Does the pyromaniacal douchebaggery know no bounds?
